The Monster Tees Are On Jessica Hill
September 2, 2009
This is just a quickie. I want to give a shout out to Jessica Hill, an accomplished painter, illustrator and t-shirt and environmental graphic designer based in Nashville TN with a flair for creating some rather cute t-shirts, many of which feature beasties of every shape and description. She sent me a really friendly email asking for a mention for her latest creation which has just been snapped up by Hot Topic which essentially deserves a round of applause all round. That’s a rather major label to be fraternising with and I for one am really impressed.
The t-shirt in question is her Eat Chumps Tee. A great design and a sense of humour to boot, I can see Jessica is going places in the t-shirt world, who knows where it might lead her!

Here’s how Hot Topic describe the work, ‘This fitted purple tee features an adorable piece of French toast with a mustache and beret. “I eat chumps like you for breakfast!”‘. Very strange, very cute indeed. Not quite her usual kind of creation I admit, i.e not a monster but still a mutant piece of French toast all the same. Come on if you had one of these on your plate for breakfast I’m sure you’d be a tad scared at the very least? The Eat Chumps Tee is available for $22 in sizes S to XL in a rather fetching purple.
Just to complete the set take a look at a few others I’ve tracked down by Jessica:-

Here’s a couple more I tracked down, nope they’re no longer available, but like I say let’s complete the set ![]()

I found this out about Jessica at Club Mumble - Dave Delaney an old creative pal of hers wrote “Back in ‘97 my good friend Jessica Hill and I were the first two interns at Space1026. We worked with John Freeborn and Andrew Jeffrey Wright on GoodandEvil skateboards/Holeproof clothing respectively, an experience that shaped both of us moving forward in our careers.”
I think we can all look forward to many more cute, funny and slightly twisted creatures from Jessica in the future!

“When we caught word of Jessica Hill, we were instantly impressed. The imagery used in her work is fun and creative. It reminds us of the art we saw when we were in Tokyo. It expresses a curiousity for all those images we used to conjure as a youth.
Jessica is a painter and designer in Nashville. Her work is being featured in various galleries and she’s expanding to do installations in Knoxville, Louisville and Birmingham. We love those places, but what hit our heart the most is that she’s a Philly cat. She went to art school in Illadelph and worked for goodandevil skateboard company at the world famous Space 1026. Maybe we can convince her to come back to Philly!”
Currently workingon illustrations with Mperfect Design in Louisville for bejeezus magazine.
